Action and Adventure, War

Tom Allen Coetzee, ex-Special Forces sniper, thought he had faced the worst death had to offer - until a mission from his past comes back to haunt him, threatening to destroy the secure world he now lives in. After the tragic death of his young wife and unborn child, Tom's life is turned upside down when a childhood friend is brutally murdered, and his partner is the target of a near fatal car bombing. Desperate to protect his daughter, Danielle, Tom must unravel the web of deceit that is the Cuban connection between the Doctor and the mysterious Lady.

In a thrilling pursuit through the remote bushveldt near Vivo to the spectacular mountains of the Golden Gate National Park, Tom must stay one step ahead of his enemy to protect the people he loves and to ensure his world can return to normal.

Action is plentiful and the plot engaging. Stuck, on the edge of my chair, or 'penorent' in my bed I was at times terrified.
In 1987, Tom Coetzee was a sniper par excellence of the South African Army. Years later, he is forced to protect his daughter, Danielle, and all he can do is unravel the web of deceit. Why does the Cuban doctor want him dead; what is the connection between him and the mysterious Lillynn? And must he put his life on the line for Nic's personal vendettas?
What stood out for me was how the author described a situation, especially the environment where the character finds himself, in sensory detail. I have crawled, slept and waited with Tom in the hills of Golden Gate National Park... I also cuddled up to branches and sharp edges of stone and rock, or were they bullets...
Because I have a soft spot for ex-army members, I experience a sense of loss when I read similar stories. So I have to admit that DC and Kwinzee gave me more than just a few anxious moments.
If you are a lover of murder and suspense stories, you will definitely not be disappointed. Just get the book!
